A NEW ARRIVAL EXPERIENCE
FOR PADDINGTON STATION

170 years after the opening of Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s Paddington Station, this historic centre of London will once again become a meeting point for millions, including first time visitors to London who will get a strong sense of the culture and connection of the city as they arrive.

Super-connected, Paddington is the only station in London with direct access to all mainland stations. Over 133 million annual passengers use its National Rail, Elizabeth Line, Heathrow Express and four Underground lines.

A new Bakerloo Line entrance and ticket hall will relieve congestion and provide much needed modern facilities and step free access. The new ticket hall is integrated with Paddington Square’s two level retail mall and restaurant street.

A 1.35-acre public piazza with trees and a living wall provides a new arrival experience for Paddington Station with a major programme of public art commissions.

A new piazza will be a vibrant pedestrianised space which sits at the centre of a revitalised Paddington. Artists Ugo Rondinone, Pae White and Catherine Yass have been commissioned to produce their first permanent London installations at Paddington Square.

Local community art space The Showroom will also curate a series of collaborative murals at Tanner Lane (situated between Paddington Square and St Mary’s Hospital), each responding to the overarching theme of ‘care’. The first is a collaboration with the NHS and Katrin Bohm.
